{"id":324,"date":"2006-09-20T18:54:55","date_gmt":"2006-09-20T17:54:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.devco.net\/?p=324"},"modified":"2009-10-09T14:18:04","modified_gmt":"2009-10-09T13:18:04","slug":"mac_freeware_goodies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devco.net\/archives\/2006\/09\/20\/mac_freeware_goodies.php","title":{"rendered":"Mac Freeware goodies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A quick post to point out some Apple freebys that I&#8217;ve come across recently, first up is a replacement for the standard unzip tool that comes with OS X, it is called <a href=\"http:\/\/wakaba.c3.cx\/s\/apps\/unarchiver.html\">Unarchiver<\/a> and adds support for a ton of new formats from inside Finder:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It is very simple to use and install &#8211; simply copy it into your Applications folder or<br \/>\nwhereever you prefer, and then set archive filetypes to open using it. This can either<br \/>\nbe done the usual way, or by double-clicking the icon to show The Unarchiver&#8217;s<br \/>\npreferences.<\/p>\n<p>Supported file formats include Zip, Tar-GZip, Tar-BZip2, Rar, 7-zip, LhA, StuffIt<br \/>\nand many other more or less obscure formats.
