I checked if my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freebsd.org\/\">FreeBSD<\/a> machines has this command and stumbled on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freebsd.org\/cgi\/man.cgi?query=daemon&#038;apropos=0&#038;sektion=0&#038;manpath=FreeBSD+5.3-RELEASE+and+Ports&#038;format=html\">daemon(8)<\/a>.<br \/>\nIt was introduced around FreeBSD 4.7 and supports running any command in the background complete with pid file support.<br \/>\nI put the following command in a simple rc script so now I have a full start, stop, restart style command for greylistd.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n\/usr\/sbin\/daemon -cf -p \/var\/run\/greylistd.pid \/usr\/local\/sbin\/greylistd\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been trying to think of a good way to start the exim greylistd which does not by default run in the background.
