Someone referred me to artcoup.com. The photographer calls himself Boogie and he takes some amazing black and white photos. I was especially impressed by his Subway and Gang shots, the Subway ones are similar to many New York photographers but the Gang ones are very good, they are quite unique in my experience.

I have been viewing Asya’s work for a year or so now and never stop being moved by it, she takes self portraits, there is not really much I will say about it, they are unique and people interpret them in their own way. Her http://www.myownself.com/ site does not unfortunately change much, I wish there were more new work added.
DP Review has a interview with her that gives insight into how and why she makes these photos.
I’m an ambidextrous, color-blind math grad student, 22. I have two master degrees and I’m two years away from my Ph.D. in Bioinformatics. From time to time I want to ditch my college and do photography but I’m afraid I appear to be a coward and of course such attitude doesn’t lead to anything except mediocrity, to be generous.

Creative Pro has a nice piece on how a digital camera sensor works complete with diagrams, worth a read for anyone keen to know how it works, it even shows why digital cameras tend to have very good green reproduction.

A new 26 Things Photographic Scavenger Hunt has been launched yesterday, there are no winners etc. just a fun game.
26 Things is a fun photographic game – no winners list, no prizes handed out. On a given date, 26 items are posted on the website and participants set out to photograph each item in their own interpretation.

ePHOTOzine has a nice article on the rights of photographers, it caters for the UK and gives some hints for freelancers and hobbiests.
Regarding pictures of total strangers – candid shots taken in the street, say – no one in the UK has copyright on their face, and providing you take pictures from a public place, there are no laws covering the right of privacy of the public. Therefore, if you photograph a ‘streaker’ running down the high street, there is nothing they can do about it legally. The only time problems occur is if that picture is published and the accompanying text is defamatory – suggesting the person was drunk or on drugs, for example – in which case the subject can sue you for libel damages because in fact they were just having a good time.

In a recent installment of Petteri’s Pontifications titled Boring Photographs I found a link to a PBase gallery of Hin Chua. I really like his photos and his style that is visible throughout his photos. I especially like his urban photos, will be sure to check back here often.
